Chef Marty Lim

Chef Marty Lim was born and raised in central Los Angeles, right in the middle of the city's diverse and dazzling culinary scene, which inspired and informed his palate from a young age. From countless corner taquerias with explosively flavorful tacos and burritos, to dinners out at seminal LA restaurants like Nancy Silverton's Campinille, the fresh ingredients and endless variety were the fuse that lit his passion to pursue a career creating the similar culinary experiences. He began his career at Chef Joachim Splichal's Patina Catering Group, assisting on event menu and in kitchen, creating food for both private parties and major events such as the official after parties of the Oscars and Emmys. That was followed by four years as event coordinator with celebrity event planner Lulu Powers and three years as a cheese monger at perennial LA hot spot Joan's On Third.

Seeking a change of pace from hectic Los Angeles, Marty relocated to South Florida in 2015, where he worked as head chef at Someone's In The Kitchen Catering in West Palm Beach, where he created menus and prepared dishes for seasonal events and private parties in Palm Beach. An escape from Cat 5 Hurricane Irma brought Marty to Atlanta in September 2017, an escape which turned out to be most fortuitous. Upon exploring the city, he and partner Edward, both missing genuine city life, were immediately taken by Atlanta's unique mixture of big city bustle, sophistication, and creativity along with its laid-back charm, beautiful tree-filled neighborhoods, positive energy, and the city's inspiring and revelatory food scene. They immediately felt 'this is home' and soon, along with their trio of four-legged boys Benny Hill, Johnny Carson, and Muggsy Malone, were on their way to Atlanta.

Once settled as an Atlantan, Chef Marty fulfilled his professional goal: starting his own personal chef enterprise, creating special culinary and event experiences for very special clients. Fresh, local and healthful ingredients utilized to create flavorful, diverse dishes and menus while creating warm connections and environments with clients are his guiding philosophies as a chef. There is nothing he enjoys more than being offered the privilege of providing that most essential of human enjoyments: sitting down to a table of great food with those we cherish. He'd be honored to have the opportunity to do so for you.
